This painting is a tribute to my grandmother, now aged 101 and to the stories of her youth she recounts. Here, she is 93. She gazes at a younger version of herself so past and present are mingled together. One wonders what she would tell her younger self. The empty chair signifies the eventual future where she will always be present despite being absent. The painting done in greyscale emphasizes the looking back.
